Acoustic sensors, as key devices for converting sound signals into electrical signals, are widely used in applications such as environmental noise monitoring, audio equipment development, and industrial fault diagnosis. This article primarily introduces the 24-bit analog-to-digital converter GX1274 as a replacement for the ADS1274 in acoustic sensor applications. The chip’s high-precision performance and dynamic range of up to 144 dB (in high-resolution mode) enable it to capture even the slightest changes in acoustic signals. Its inherent noise is as low as 1.5μVrms, ensuring high-fidelity acquisition of weak acoustic signals.
The GX1274 employs a high-order multi-bit Delta-sigma modulator, which shapes the in-band noise and then filters it out via an on-chip digital decimation filter, resulting in extremely low in-band noise power. The GX1274 offers two on-chip digital filter options: a high-bandwidth FIR filter with an effective bandwidth of 90.6% of the Nyquist bandwidth and in-band ripple of less than ±0.005 dB; and a low-latency SINC filter that produces stable data output within six cycles and offers superior noise performance.

The GX1274 supports four operating modes: High-Speed (HS) mode, the fastest mode, achieving 144 kSps with a 37 MHz clock and a -3 dB bandwidth of 70 kHz; High-Resolution (HR) mode, the highest precision mode, with an SNR of up to 111.7 dB, THD of up to -122.9 dB, and power consumption as low as 20.8 mW per channel; Low Power (LP) mode, which has the same output rate as HR mode but nearly halves power consumption; and Low Speed (LS) mode, suitable for low-speed acquisition, with power consumption as low as 2.7 mW per channel. Additionally, this chip is directly controlled via pin pins, eliminating the need for register compilation, making it convenient for customers to use.
Key features of the GX1274:
• 8-channel synchronous sampling with a data rate of up to 144 kSps
