Low power mono audio codec GX8311 replaces ES8311 for use in walkie talkies

In the field of communication, walkie talkies are instant and convenient communication tools widely used in emergency rescue, property management, commercial services, outdoor exploration and many other scenarios. Clear and stable voice communication is the core function of walkie talkies, which cannot be separated from efficient audio processing technology. The audio codec is mainly responsible for converting analog audio into digital audio (recording) and converting digital audio signals into analog audio signals (playback), so the performance of the codec chip directly determines the quality of the device‘s sound quality.

GXSC GX8311 is a low-power monaural 24 bit audio codec chip that integrates multi bit Delta Sigma type audio ADC and DAC. Its 24 bit ADC is capable of high-precision sampling of input analog audio signals. Within the sampling frequency range of 8 to 96kHz, it can achieve a high signal-to-noise ratio of 100dB and a total harmonic distortion plus noise as low as -93dB, effectively ensuring the accuracy and clarity of speech acquisition and accurately capturing subtle changes in speech signals. The 24 bit DAC also has excellent performance in audio playback, with a signal-to-noise ratio of up to 110dB and THD+N as low as -80dB at sampling frequencies of 8 to 96kHz. It can accurately restore digital audio signals to high-quality analog audio and output clear and natural sound through speakers.
GX8311 has fully differential output, and during recording, GX8311 eliminates noise through its built-in programmable filter. The playback path includes monaural DAC, programmable volume control, and fully differential output. This chip is optimized for voice/playback and is highly suitable for walkie talkies and voice applications.

Main performance introduction of GX8311:
1. System: High performance and low-power 24 bit delta sigma audio ADC and DAC, I2S/PCM master serial or slave serial data port, 256/384Fs, USB 12/24MHz and other non-standard audio system clocks, and adopts I2C interface.
2. ADC: 24 bits, sampling frequency from 8 to 96kHz, 95dB signal-to-noise ratio, -93dB THD+N, one pair of differential analog inputs, low-noise programmable gain amplifier, automatic level control (ALC) and noise gate, supporting analog and digital microphones.
3. DAC: 24 bits, sampling frequency from 8 to 96kHz, 95dB signal-to-noise ratio, -85dB THD+N, one pair of differential analog outputs, dynamic range compression, burst and click noise suppression
4. Low power consumption: 1.8V to 3.3V operating voltage, low standby current
5. Supports QFN-20 packaging and can replace ES8311 with PIN TO PIN
