Clear and stable voice communication is the core function of walkie talkies, and walkie talkies cannot do without efficient audio processing technology. Interphones mainly involve the encoding, transmission, and decoding processing of voice signals. The link for voice communication is microphone preamplifier ADC transmission decompression DAC speaker; And the voice file decoding DAC amplifier headphone of the voice playback link.

The main features of the audio codec designed for walkie talkies are:
Sampling rate: mainly affects high-frequency restoration;
Resolution: affects dynamic range and signal-to-noise ratio;
• Frequency response range: The frequency range that the device can handle (20Hz~20KHz for microphones or speakers);
Distortion degree: the degree of distortion of a signal during the conversion process;

This article mainly introduces a low-power mono 24 bit audio codec chip GX8311 combined with an ultra-low power LDO chip for a walkie talkie application solution. This solution can directly replace ES8311 and AR9195. The application diagram of the solution is as follows:
Main performance introduction of GX8311:
1. System: High performance and low-power 24 bit delta sigma audio ADC and DAC, I2S/PCM master serial or slave serial data port, 256/384Fs, USB 12/24MHz and other non-standard audio system clocks, and adopts I2C interface.
2. ADC: 24 bits, sampling frequency from 8 to 96kHz, 95dB signal-to-noise ratio, -93dB THD+N, one pair of differential analog inputs, low-noise programmable gain amplifier, automatic level control (ALC) and noise gate, supporting analog and digital microphones.
3. DAC: 24 bits, sampling frequency from 8 to 96kHz, 95dB signal-to-noise ratio, -85dB THD+N, one pair of differential analog outputs, dynamic range compression, burst and click noise suppression
4. Low power consumption: 1.8V to 3.3V operating voltage, low standby current
5. Supports QFN-20 packaging and can replace ES8311 with PIN TO PIN

GX9195 Main Performance Introduction:
GX9195 is a high-speed, high-precision, low voltage drop linear voltage regulator chip with sub microampere static current, equipped with enable pins and turn off fast discharge function. The chip is equipped with functions such as input current limiting, output short circuit protection, overheating protection, etc., which protect the chip from damage under abnormal working conditions. Ultra low static current of 0.8uA (Typ), operating voltage range of 2.0V~5.5V, output voltage: 3.3V, 3.0V, 2.8V, 1.8V, 1.2V. GX9195 adopts SOT23-3, SOT23-5, and DFN-4 packaging forms, compatible with AR9195.
