2GHz~15GHz broadband mixer chip GX5548/5549 replaces LTC5548/5549 for microwave transceiver application

Time:2025-08-15 Views:620
Modern microwave transceivers need to support multi band communication to adapt to different application scenarios, requiring frequency mixers to have a wide frequency range. Broadband mixers make it possible to use a single mixer in a dynamically programmable radio architecture with various radio parameters. The most important performance parameters of a mixer include conversion gain, linearity, noise figure, and operating bandwidth. This article introduces a high-performance passive double balanced broadband mixer chip that can be used for up conversion or down conversion.

The GX5548/5549 function can replace LTC5548/5549. GX5548/5549 is a differential IF output that supports DC~6GHz IF bandwidth. GX5548/5549 is not only suitable for applications where the IF frequency extends below 500MHz, but also for applications where the IF frequency is above 500MHz, and can meet the frequency band requirements of most microwave transceivers. The GX5548/5549 integrates on-chip balun, making it more convenient to use. It can support broadband operating frequencies ranging from 2 to 15GHz, with an integrated LO amplification link. It supports local oscillator operating frequencies ranging from 1 to 12GHz, with a typical local oscillator power of only 0dBm.
In addition, the mixer chip GX5548/5549 integrates an LO multiplier, which can be enabled or disabled through ports compatible with CMOS logic. Enabling the LO multiplier can reduce the requirement for local oscillator frequency and facilitate system applications. Moreover, GX5548/5549 has high linearity (input P-1dB and IIP3) and integration.

The characteristics of GX5548/5549 chip are as follows:
Up conversion or down conversion
Integrated local oscillator amplification link
Integrate optional LO multiplier
Broadband RF LO IF operating frequency
Single ended RF and LO ports 50 ohm matching
Differential IF port
Support ultra-low frequency IF applications
High linearity (input PI and IIP3)
QFN package, size 3mmx2mm
Working temperature range -40 ℃~125 ℃
Replace LTC5548/5549

The GX5548/5549 chip is powered by a single 3.3V power supply, with a voltage/current (multiplier OFF) of only 3.3V/83mA; The voltage/current (multiplier ON) is only 3.3V/96mA, and the low-power characteristics are suitable for portable microwave devices powered by batteries, such as handheld radar testers.
