Passive dual-balanced broadband mixer GX5552/5553 replaces LTC5552/5553 for early warning radar applications

Time:2025-10-16 Views:177
Early warning radar is a radar system designed for long-range target detection, with a detection range of several hundred kilometers, strong anti-jamming capabilities, and the ability to operate under all weather conditions. It features high power and long-range detection. Typically operating in the ultra-high frequency (UHF) and very high frequency (VHF) bands, early warning radar emits detection signals, receives target echoes, and processes them through frequency conversion to extract key information such as target range, speed, and azimuth.

The high-performance passive double-balanced broadband mixer GX5552/5553 from GXSC is compatible with frequency detection in the 3GHz~20GHz band and can be used for both upconversion and downconversion. It is suitable for applications such as phased array radar, early warning radar, and weather radar. The GX5552/5553 integrates internal RF baluns and LO amplification chains, supporting local oscillator operating frequencies of 1~20GHz with a typical LO power requirement of only 0dBm. Additionally, the GX5552/5553 incorporates IF baluns, supporting single-ended 50-ohm intermediate frequency operation in the 0.5~9GHz range.
Main Performance Indicators of GX5552/5553:
RF operating bandwidth: 3~20 GHz
LO operating bandwidth: 1~20GHz
IF operating bandwidth: DC~6GHz
Input P-1dB for Downconversion Mixer: 16dBm (Typical Value)
Upconversion mixer input P-1dB: 13dBm (typical value)
Downconverter IIP3: 27dBm (typical value)
Upconverter IIP3: 23dBm (typical value)
Down-conversion loss: 10dB (typical value)
Upconversion loss: 8dB (typical value)
Required LO power: 0dBm (typical value)
Voltage/Current: 3.3V/146mA (typical value)
Chip dimensions: 3mm × 2mm
Operating temperature range: -40°C to 125°C

When operating in complex electromagnetic environments, early warning radars often encounter scenarios where "strong interference signals coexist with weak echo signals." Mixers must possess high linearity to avoid signal distortion. The GX5552/5553 features high linearity (input P-1dB and IIP3) and integration, enabling it to accurately process signals of varying strengths in complex electromagnetic conditions. This prevents the generation of extraneous spurious signals, ensuring the system‘s ability to detect and identify target signals.
