Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) serve as control units in industrial automation. Their operational workflow can be summarized as signal acquisition—logic processing—data storage—command output. Among these, high-precision analog signal acquisition and highly reliable storage of critical data are the two key pillars ensuring PLC control performance. Given the complex operating conditions and control requirements in industrial environments, this article recommends using GXSC ADCs and GXSC ferroelectric memory to replace the AD7124/MB85RS128/FM25V01 in PLC applications, effectively resolving issues such as signal distortion, data loss, and unstable storage in industrial control systems.
PLCs in industrial environments must acquire a wide variety of analog signals, including voltage, current, temperature, and pressure, many of which are weak signals. Additionally, strong electromagnetic interference is often present. The GXSC ADC incorporates 16-channel analog switches, a low-noise PGA, a low-drift reference source, a highly matched IDAC, and a high-precision 24-bit Ʃ-Δ ADC. This high level of integration reduces system costs and the number of components required for sensor measurement applications. The PGA offers selectable gain, with a maximum of 128 V/V.

Furthermore, the GXSC ferroelectric memory ensures high-reliability data storage for PLCs, preventing data loss during power outages. Critical information—such as program instructions, parameter configurations, real-time acquisition data, and fault logs—is fully preserved even under extreme conditions like sudden power loss or voltage fluctuations. After a restart, operations can be quickly resumed, ensuring the continuity of industrial control.
This GXSC ferroelectric memory supports a fast read mode with a maximum operating frequency of 40 MHz, offering read/write speeds far exceeding those of traditional EEPROMs. It can rapidly respond to PLC read/write commands, store acquired analog signal data and logic operation results in real time, and quickly retrieve pre-set program instructions and parameter configurations, ensuring the efficient execution of PLC control logic.
The GXSC ferroelectric memory chip offers pin-to-pin replacement for the Fujitsu MB85RS128 and Cypress FM25V01. Utilizing a standard SPI interface, the GXSC ferroelectric memory is fully compatible with the MB85RS128 and FM25V01. The replacement process requires no major modifications to the hardware circuitry, thereby reducing development costs for the solution.
