Replacing AD9361 with GX9361 56MHz Agile RF Transceiver in Point-to-Point Communication Systems

Time:2026-10-30 Views:19
Point-to-point communication systems come in various forms, ranging from short-range line-of-sight links for UAV video transmission to medium- and long-range fixed links for microwave backhaul. These systems have dedicated channels with no bandwidth contention conflicts among multiple nodes, offer stronger anti-interference capability for long-distance transmission, and deliver excellent performance for large-bandwidth video and high-definition video transmission with high security. Their common requirements center on several aspects: frequency band flexibility, reconfigurability of bandwidth and waveform, and determinism of link budget.
For point-to-point communication solutions, the GX9361 high-performance, highly integrated agile RF transceiver, with its programmability and wide bandwidth characteristics, makes it an ideal choice for a variety of transceiver applications. The device integrates an RF front end, a flexible mixed-signal baseband section, and an integrated frequency synthesizer, providing a configurable digital interface to the processor, thereby simplifying design implementation.
The GX9361 operates over a frequency range of 70MHz to 6.0GHz, covering most licensed and unlicensed bands, and supports channel bandwidths from below 200kHz up to 56MHz. The two independent direct-conversion receivers feature industry-leading noise figure and linearity. Each receive (RX) subsystem includes independent automatic gain control (AGC), DC offset correction, quadrature correction, and digital filtering, eliminating the need to provide these functions in the digital baseband.
In addition, the GX9361 offers a flexible manual gain mode with external control support. Each channel contains two high-dynamic-range ADCs that digitize the received I and Q signals, which are then passed through configurable decimation filters and a 128-tap finite impulse response (FIR) filter to produce 12-bit output signals at the appropriate sampling rate.
The GX9361 RF transceiver enables system designers to replace traditional discrete RF front ends with a single 10 mm × 10 mm chip, simplifying the link architecture while retaining sufficient waveform flexibility to match point-to-point links with different distances, frequency bands, and throughput requirements.
