In the field of meteorological observation, meteorological radar monitors and warns of weather phenomena such as precipitation, storms, and turbulence by emitting and receiving electromagnetic wave echoes. The performance of the RF link directly determines the detection accuracy, resolution, and anti-interference ability of the radar. Traditional broadband mixer chips often suffer from limited bandwidth and insufficient linearity. GXSC‘s passive dual balanced broadband mixer GX5552/5553 can PIN TO PIN replace LTC5552/5553, fully meeting the performance requirements of meteorological radar such as broadband coverage, low frequency conversion loss, high linearity, and low noise figure.
Modern meteorological radar generally requires coverage of multiple frequency bands. The operating bandwidth of GX5552/5553 is 3GHz~20GHz, which is suitable for the multi frequency detection needs of meteorological radar. GX5552/5553 can be used for up conversion or down conversion, integrating internal RF balun to support broadband operating frequencies of 3-20GHz. It also has an internal LO amplification link to support local oscillator operating frequencies of 1-20GHz, with a typical local oscillator power of only 0dBm. The GX5552/5553 also integrates IF balun, supporting a single ended 50 ohm intermediate frequency operating frequency of 0.5-9GHz.

Due to the significant difference in amplitude of the echo signals received by meteorological radar, GX5552/5553 has low frequency conversion loss and high linearity. With input P-1dB and IIP3, it has relatively small LO-RF and LO-IF leakage, which overall improves the radar detection sensitivity and dynamic range.
