The 8-channel I2C voltage, current, and temperature monitor GX2991 is used for remote data acquisition

Time:2025-09-29 Views:265
Remote data acquisition systems are commonly used in industrial IoT, environmental monitoring, and new energy operation and maintenance. Connected between field devices and cloud platforms, they are designed for long-term stable collection of critical parameters such as temperature, voltage, and current in unattended outdoor environments, industrial workshops, and high-voltage substations. For example, remote acquisition cabinets in photovoltaic power plants need to monitor battery group temperature and output voltage, while remote terminals in power transmission and distribution systems require monitoring of equipment temperature and line voltage. Environmental monitoring stations, on the other hand, need to collect air temperature and sensor power supply voltage.

The GX2991 is a chip specifically designed for monitoring board-level system voltage, current, and temperature, suitable for power voltage monitoring, remote data acquisition, and environmental monitoring. It features a single-ended voltage resolution as low as 305.18mV, a differential voltage resolution as low as 19.075uV, and a temperature resolution as low as 0.0625°C. Within the stable range of -40°C to 125°C, its voltage measurement accuracy exceeds 0.25%, current measurement accuracy exceeds 0.75%, and temperature measurement accuracy exceeds 1.8°C, making it highly suitable for single or hybrid system applications requiring voltage, current, and temperature monitoring.
The GX2991 supports two input modes: 8 single-ended voltage channels and 4 differential voltage channels. It enables voltage measurement, current measurement, or remote BIT temperature measurement. Additionally, it features a standard FC dual-line interface and standard C protocol, with three configurable hardware address bits, allowing expansion up to 8 chips.

Additionally, the GX2991 internally integrates a temperature sensor and a voltage sensor to monitor the chip‘s operating temperature and voltage. It also includes a high-precision reference with a temperature drift of 10ppm/°C, eliminating the need for an external reference. Compared to other solutions, this measurement chip reduces the number of components required in engineering applications and lowers material costs, while further minimizing PCB footprint and enhancing board integration.
