Modern electronic countermeasure technology demands equipment with outstanding anti-interference capabilities in complex electromagnetic environments. By detecting, jamming, and suppressing electromagnetic signals, it disrupts enemy electronic equipment while ensuring the stability and integrity of friendly electromagnetic links. This article primarily introduces a GXSC 4-channel C/X/Ku-band beamformer replacing the ADAR1000 for electronic countermeasure applications. Employing multi-channel parallel processing and adaptive calibration technology, this device effectively suppresses side lobes in jamming environments, minimizing external interference impacts on the system to ensure seamless communication and detection operations.
The GXSC beamformer supports a frequency range from 5GHz to 18GHz, covering C-band, X-band, and Ku-band. Its wideband coverage enables adaptation to multi-frequency satellite communications. The chip integrates 4 receive channels, 4 transmit channels, and corresponding power combining/power dividing networks, representing a highly integrated silicon-based beamforming chip.

Both receive and transmit channels of the GXSC support amplitude and phase control. Phase accuracy is 7 bits, enabling 2.8° phase control intervals within 360°. Amplitude accuracy is 6 bits, supporting 0.5dB amplitude control intervals within a 31.5dB dynamic range. Its fast response and high-precision control characteristics provide robust survivability and tactical value in electronic warfare.
The GXSC beamformer employs a 4-wire SPI logic for register configuration and control, enabling adjustment of amplitude and phase for each channel, along with support for bias adjustment, channel enable/disable control, and transmit/receive switching. Additionally, the single chip features two-pin address lines to enable serial control of up to four multifunction chips in applications. Its primary functional characteristics are as follows:
5–18 GHz operating range
Receive/transmit time-division half-duplex operation
4T4R RF channels with integrated IF/synthesizer network
360° phase control range / 7-bit resolution / LSB=2.8°
31.5 dB amplitude control range / 6-bit resolution / LSB=0.5dB
Integrated bias and channel control
Integrated temperature sensor
Integrated quantization ADC
Integrated beam storage
Integrated power detection
Single-pin control for fast transmit/receive state switching
Standard 4-wire SPI control logic
WLCSP package (6.20 x 6.05 x 0.725 mm)
