GXSC ADC Replaces AD7687 in Battery-Powered Devices

Time:2026-06-16 Views:290
Battery-powered devices are portable, flexible, low-noise, and energy-efficient, and are widely used in lithium-ion power tools and portable testing equipment. This solution uses a lithium-ion battery pack as its core power source, with a main control unit managing the device’s power consumption, load operation, and status monitoring. The operational workflow includes battery power supply, power drive, operating condition data acquisition, status determination, power consumption control, and protection.

The system requires real-time, precise acquisition of key parameters such as battery voltage, load current, and module temperature to estimate remaining battery capacity and detect overload and undervoltage faults. GXSC’s 16-bit 250 kSPS analog-to-digital converter is ideally suited for the precise signal acquisition, low-power operation, and high-stability monitoring requirements of battery-powered devices, offering a reliable replacement solution for the AD7687.

The GXSC ADC features a low-power, high-speed 16-bit sampling ADC with no missing codes, an internal conversion clock, and a versatile serial interface port. The chip also includes a low-noise, wide-bandwidth, high-speed tracking and holding circuit. During the rising edge of the CNV signal, the chip samples the voltage difference between the IN+ and IN− pins, which ranges from −VREF to VREF. The reference voltage VREF must be supplied externally and can be set to the supply voltage. The device’s power consumption increases linearly with throughput.

GXSC ADC Features:
16-bit resolution, 16-bit no-missing-code
Throughput: 250 kSPS
Integral Nonlinearity (INL): Typical ±0.4 LSB, Maximum ±1.5 LSB (±23 ppm of FSR)
Dynamic Range: 96.5 dB
