AD9764 Replacement: GX14S125N Pin-to-Pin Hardware and Software Compatible DAC
GX14S125N is developed as a direct alternative to AD9764 for communication transmit paths and high-speed signal-generation systems. Its compatible pinout, TSSOP-28 package and parallel CMOS interface allow existing 3.3 V AD9764 designs to retain their original PCB and digital control architecture.
The device uses a segmented current-source architecture and integrates an edge-triggered input latch, a 1.25 V temperature-compensated reference and a control amplifier. Its full-scale output current can be adjusted from 2 mA to 20 mA.
GX14S125N as a Direct AD9764 Replacement
GX14S125N is a single-channel, 14-bit current-output DAC supporting update rates of up to 125 MSPS.
For AD9764 systems operating from a 3.3 V supply, GX14S125N provides a direct migration option while retaining the original TSSOP-28 footprint, parallel data bus and output architecture. It is also suitable for new communication and instrumentation designs.
Pin-to-Pin Hardware and Software Compatibility with AD9764
GX14S125N is designed for pin-to-pin hardware compatibility with the TSSOP-28 version of AD9764. Existing PCB footprints, 14-bit parallel CMOS connections, clock signals and differential current-output circuits can be retained in compatible 3.3 V designs.
The device does not require register programming. Existing FPGA, DSP or processor data-output logic and clock-control software can therefore continue to be used without rewriting the digital interface.
AD9764 designs using a 5 V supply should review the power circuit before replacement because GX14S125N operates from 3.0 V to 3.6 V.
