ADAR1000 Functional Replacement: GX1001 5–18 GHz Four-Channel Beamformer
GX1001 is a broadband, half-duplex beamforming IC covering 5 GHz to 18 GHz. Compared with the 8 GHz to 16 GHz range of ADAR1000, GX1001 extends operation across additional C-, X- and Ku-band frequencies.
The device provides comparable beamforming functions at the system level but is not a pin-to-pin replacement. Migration from ADAR1000 requires changes to the schematic, PCB, power architecture, RF interfaces and control software.
GX1001 as a Functional ADAR1000 Replacement
GX1001 integrates four transmit channels, four receive channels and a four-way RF splitter/combiner network. Each channel provides independent phase and amplitude adjustment for beam steering, calibration and amplitude tapering.
It can be evaluated as an ADAR1000 functional replacement or selected for new broadband phased-array systems requiring 5–18 GHz coverage, fast beam switching and external RF front-end control.
Hardware and Software Changes Required for ADAR1000 Migration
GX1001 and ADAR1000 support similar functions, including 4T4R half-duplex operation, 360° phase control, at least 31 dB amplitude adjustment, SPI configuration, beam memory, power detection and external PA, LNA and T/R switch control.
However, the two devices use different packages, footprints, pin definitions, power arrangements and register maps. GX1001 cannot be installed directly on an existing ADAR1000 PCB.
Replacing ADAR1000 with GX1001 may require redesign of the schematic, PCB layout, RF matching, power supply and thermal structure, together with modifications to the SPI driver and beam-control software.
